Overview

Located near the Georgia/South Carolina border, Savannah holds the distinction of being Georgia's first city and America's first planned city. The two and a half mile Historic District, is a National Landmark rich with the beautiful architecture of years gone by. Some of the city's other claims to fame include that it was the setting for the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the birthplace of Girl Scouts of America founder Juliette Gordon Low, the childhood home of author Flannery O'Connor, the Savannah History Museum, the Fort Pulaski National Monument, and the Ralph Mark Gilberts Civil Rights Museum.
