The Coral Gables Venetian Pool is an 83 year old public pool carved in 1923 out of a coral rock quarry. Those who would like to stay on dry land during their stay in Coral Gables will take pleasure in visiting two of the cities multiple-acre parks. The Matheson Hammock Park features over 600 acres of nature trails and a man-made island pool. The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is an 83 acre natural preserve on the outskirts of Coral Gables. The Gardens offers seasonal walking or tram tours and special events like wine-tasting tours, glass sculpture exhibits and special tropical plant sales. When you grow tired of the tourist attractions, a plethora of restaurants, shops and theaters awaits you on Coral Gables Miracle Mile. More shopping can be found at the Village of Merrick Park. The open-air mall features 115 shops, restaurants and boutiques.
